A world in the grip of war, Fear stalks the streets as an uncertain future is decided by the strength of arms. This is an age of powdered eggs and ration books. The blitz spirit, Vera Lynn and Noel Coward, in the countryside evacuees are digging for victory.

Germany has invaded Poland, the world has changed and it is a time of great heroism and unbelievable horror. Yet through it all Bogart and Bacall smile out from the silver screen, The Windmill theatre’s lights stay bright.

It was a time of great invention, enigmas, crosswords and codes, a time of Bletchley Park and Casablanca, of U-boats and telegrams.

Through the empty streets sirens howl out, and some hear the call. Pin up girls and flying aces, Oxford graduates, land girls and resistance leaders.

A group of strangers will find strength they never knew they had, to build a better future, no matter what the cost or personal sacrifice.

November 1940

You must remember this

It all started in 1940 in Hotel Maibre. Liechtenstein is neutral territory on the edge of Austria and Switzerland. And in hotel Maibre local residents mix with Nazi soldiers, and their likeable landlord Arnaud Mabire.

One wet and windy night a group of strangers were stranded there, all brought together by a  strange fate

The effect of these strange nights were just as chilling for the hotels few residents.
